Inside Chelsea’s final evening before FA Cup final and morning of Leicester tie
Thomas Tuchel has revealed how his Chelsea side have been preparing for Saturday’s FA Cup final with Leicester.
The Blues will take on the Foxes at Wembley looking to seal the first part of a cup double over the next few weeks.
Victory over Leicester would set Chelsea up perfectly for the Champions League final against Manchester City.
Ahead of his first cup final with the Blues, Tuchel has given an insight into how he likes his side to prepare for the big occasion.
Speaking to Chelsea’s official website, he said: “Normally the night before, I try to do sports.
“This time the team stays in a hotel so we have a meal together, and maybe we talk some situations and we watch some video footage from Leicester again to be prepared for the next morning.
“Then usually I try to wake up early and do some sports, some meditation for 20 minutes – breathe in, breathe out, eyes closed trying hard to do nothing. And then be ready to prepare the first meeting.”
Tuchel also spoke about the difference in mindset between a cup final and a normal match, adding: “I have my ups and downs.
“Sometimes I'm very disciplined, sometimes I'm not so disciplined, but I think it's normal to be excited and it's normal to be nervous.
“Sometimes it can catch me before normal matches and sometimes you feel a little more relaxed and calm even if the pressure is on.
“If it's a huge match it depends. I haven’t figured out a certain pattern, but it's normal for a certain amount [of nerves]. It's important because then you are well aware of everything.”
Chelsea take on Leicester looking to win their sixth FA Cup of the Roman Abramovich-era, following triumphs in 2007, 2009, 2010, 2012 and 2018.
Success against the Foxes would give the Blues nine FA Cup wins overall, putting them out on their own ahead of Tottenham as the third most successful side in the history of the competition.
