Inside Brazils broken dressing room after infamous 7-1 Germany humiliation

The sombre mood inside Brazil's dressing room after they were thumped 7-1 by Germany in the 2014 World Cup semi-final has been revealed.

The Samba Boys' dreams of lifting the World Cup trophy on home turf was trashed by a rampant German side who brutally ripped apart the South American nation. The writing was on the wall just half hour into the game as Joachim Low's side steamed into a 5-0 lead, following goals from Thomas Muller, Miroslav Klose, Sami Khedira, and a Toni Kroos brace.

Andre Schurrle put the final nail in Brazil's coffin after the break with a double, before Oscar pegged one back for Luis Felipe Scolari's side. But the damage was done and Brazil left the pitch broken men.

And retired Samba Boy Ramires, who was playing in his first World Cup, has lifted the lid on how the squad felt after their 'shameful' loss that he still finds it hard to speak about. He said to Ladbrokes: "We were ready to enter the history books in a positive way; to enter the final in our own country, but things didn't go that way in the end, and we're in the history books for all the wrong reasons.

"It's a very, very painful way to lose and exit a tournament in your own country. It was shameful – that's the only way I can describe it. In my career, this was without a doubt the most painful defeat I experienced. It marked me a lot. "

Instead of cheers, there were plenty of tears from Brazil's side who were in total shock at what just happened to them. And former Chelsea star Ramires wanted nothing else other than to be with his family at that moment as he just needed a hug to deal with the pain.

He added: "In the changing room after that game, the atmosphere was absolutely awful. Heads were down everywhere you looked, lots of us were crying. In that moment, I just wanted to be with my mum, and with my brother.

"At the time I was married, so I wanted to be with my wife and my son. I just wanted to be comforted. I didn't want or need anyone to say anything, I just needed a hug from those that were closest to me.

"I needed to feel them with me; it's so hard to describe the sensation coming off the pitch in a difficult moment like that." The loss was so harrowing for Ramires, who retired from the sport in 2020, that he has never watched the match – and never will.

He vowed: "I've never watched the game back. I never, ever, ever will watch it back." Unfortunately, Ramires' compatriots were reduced to tears once again at the 2022 World Cup as they crashed out in the quarter-finals of the Qatar-held tournament on penalties to Croatia.
