Insane Arsenal stat shows mammoth task in title showdown vs Man City
Man City v Arsenal: Premier League match preview
An insane Arsenal stat has highlighted the mammoth task that Mikel Arteta’s side face in their title showdown against Manchester City on Wednesday night. Arsenal have drawn their last three league matches resulting in Pep Guardiola’s side cutting their gap to five points with two games in hand ahead of the crunch game.
Arsenal have a terrible head-to-head record in recent years against City having last beaten them in the Premier League back in December 2015. Arsenal have lost their last 11 league games against Guardiola’s side and last picked up a point against the reigning champions in April 2017.
Some 21 teams have picked up Premier League points against City since that date with Manchester United topping the list picking up 17 points against their rivals in them five years. Arsenal’s rivals Tottenham Hotspur have earned 16 points off City during the same period while Liverpool are next on the list with 13 points.
Norwich have beaten City since Arsenal last picked up a point while fellow Championship sides Burney, Middlesborough, Huddersfield and West Brom have earned a point each. Arsenal come into what could be the title decider on the back of three draws and Arteta has responded to claims his side are ‘bottling’ the title.
He said: “These are opinions and we have to respect that. When you set the standards and expectations, you have to maintain them. To win every single game in the Premier League is extremely difficult.
“It’s not like you lost five games in the last six and are in this situation. The necessity to win the Premier League is you have to win almost every single game. That’s the demands and you have to accept that.”

In their bid to overturn a terrible run of form against City, Arteta has admitted that his side are leaning on experienced duo Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko who have both won four Premier League titles while playing for Wednesday’s opponents. The Arsenal boss said: “For sure. I think the experience is key.
“When you’ve been in those moments, to handle those moments, to understand the importance of certain things when you’re competing in a football match, the capacity to transmit like those two players have to the rest of the team a lot of things that are very, very important.”
