Ilkay Gundogan shares FM22 success story – and he did it with unlikely team
Ilkay Gundogan has shared a remarkable Football Manager 2022 success story with Championship side West Bromwich Albion.
The Manchester City ace, 31, has revealed he is a huge fan of the tactical computer game.
Gundogan could already be taking steps for a career in management upon retirement from football.
And it seems he's already performing where Valerien Ismael and Steve Bruce failed by taking the Baggies back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
"I pick a team from a lower league," Gundogan told UMM, via, Twitter.
"One I played recently, a couple of months ago, I started a save with one of my best friends – we said we'd start in the Championship.
"He picked Fulham and I picked West Brom.
"And I made it up straight into the Premier League. He didn't make it."
Aged 31, the German sensation still undoubtedly has a few more seasons at the top level.
Gundogan has formed a key part of the Cityzens title-winning midfield whilst also starring for Pep Guardiola's side in the Champions League.

But his boss does believe he has what it takes to excel in the hot seat.
"Midfield players. I think Gundogan would be,” said Guardiola when asked by Sky Sports which City players could go into management.
“Midfield players have a chance to be managers, and players who think of the game of football as a whole, not just thinking of me, me, me.
"When these guys start to understand the game as a group, as a whole, they have the challenge to be a manager."
