Arsenal hero Ian Wright believes Aaron Ramsdale has been ‘unbelievable in the dressing room’ since moving to the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners shelled out an initial £24million to land the goalkeeper from Sheffield United in August.

Ramsdale has been in scintillating form since his arrival in north London.

After keeping a clean sheet on his debut against West Brom in the Carabao Cup, Ramsdale soon claimed the goalkeeper jersey from Bernd Leno.

The 23-year-old kept back-to-back clean sheets in his first two Premier League appearances as his new side defeated Norwich and Burnley.

Ramsdale produced another shutout at Brighton at the start of October and pulled off a string of top-class saves to keep Leicester City at bay on Saturday.

The keeper’s best moment of the match at the King Power Stadium came just before the break as he somehow got across his goal-line to divert James Maddison’s free-kick onto the crossbar before denying Jonny Evans from the follow-up.

Ramsdale later illustrated his character in the east Midlands as he turned to the home fans to join in with one of their chants after he had taken a goal kick.

And, according to Wright, the keeper has impacted Arsenal off the pitch as well as on it.

“He’s had two seasons of making saves in teams that have gone down,” Wright said on his Wrighty’s House podcast.

“Now Arsenal are reaping the benefits of the experience he has. The ceiling on this guy. He is unbelievable in the dressing room.”

Ramsdale has now kept five clean sheets in his eight Arsenal appearances, with his displays for the Gunners resulting in high praise from boss Mikel Arteta.

And the Spaniard, who took the helm at the club in 2019, has challenged the player to maintain the same focus he has demonstrated so far in north London.

“We invest money in talent and people we believe can be great for the future of the club,” Arteta said. “We make that decision based on that.

“Aaron has had some encouraging performances – he needs to continue to do that.

“In football, you need to play 50 games for 20 years and this is only the start.

“I think when you dream big, it’s always positive. Keep your feet in the earth.

“He needs to be doing what he’s doing every day, train the way he does, work as hard as he does and look after himself, have the mentality he has and good performances – and the rest will come.”
