Ian Wright fumes at "embarrassing" Arsenal players for roles in loss to Man City
Ian Wright has blasted three Arsenal players for their “abysmal” performances during their 5-0 loss to Man City earlier today.
Arsenal met the Citizens at the Etihad Stadium and were demolished by the current Premier League champions.
After conceding two goals within the opening 12 minutes courtesy of Ilkay Gundogan and Ferran Torres, things would go from bad to worse for Mikel Arteta’s side when Granit Xhaka received a straight red card for his challenge on Joao Cancelo
Goals from Gabriel Jesus and Rodri either side of the half-time whistle added insult to injury for Arteta, and Torres concluded proceedings with his second goal late on in the second half.
The shocking loss marks Arsenal’s third defeat in as many games since the start of the Premier League season earlier this month. The Gunners are yet to score a goal and have conceded nine, despite spending over £130m this summer transfer window.
Following Arsenal’s most recent loss, club icon Ian Wright appeared on the Premier League’s international channel with son Shaun Wright-Phillips and seemed utterly devastated by the result.
In particular, Wright, via the Metro, blasted three players for their “embarrassing” and “abysmal” performances.

“This is really embarrassing, really embarrassing,” Wright lamented.
“I don’t know what [Arteta’s] game plan is.
“I’m looking at the defence and it is a disaster class. Between Cedric [Soares], [Sead] Kolasinac, they are all over the place.
“The pressing at the start, funnily enough, was pretty good. But apart from that, the organisation is absolutely abysmal.

“Cedric is meant to be an experienced player. He just got a brilliant deal from us, a four year deal. He has been an absolute joke in this game.
“You look at him, Kolasinac, and [Granit] Xhaka gets sent off. Our experienced players have really let us down in this game.”
After the upcoming international break, Arsenal will face Norwich City and Burnley.
Arteta will be hoping that his side can finally hit some much-needed form and, crucially, get their first win of the season.
