Eddie Howe has ruled himself out of succeeding Gareth Southgate as England manager, should the position become available after the World Cup.
The Newcastle head coach is favourite with some bookmakers to be installed as the next Three Lions boss.
But Howe says it is not something he would be interested in, at least for now.
‘I never say never, never say, “No, it won’t be something I am interested in”. But in the short term it is not on my radar at all. It is all Newcastle and trying to make this team better,’ said the 44-year-old.

‘I have always said I love the day-to-day coaching, love being with the players on the training ground. International football you get that taken away for long periods.
‘At this moment in my life, that is not something I want to do.’
Howe, however, was also full of praise for Southgate, with whom he has a good relationship.
‘Gareth has done an incredible job, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart,’ he said.
‘I have been lucky enough to go in and see him work and I have a lot of time for him and Steve Holland. They have been amazing for England. You have to remember where England were before he took over and what he has done for the country.’

Howe watched England’s 3-3 draw with Germany on Monday night, in which Newcastle goalkeeper Nick Pope was at fault for the visiting team’s late equaliser.
He has spoken with his shot-stopper since then, and said: ‘He’s in a good place. He is aware of how special those games are for him and is career. Where he has come from, to experience those moments is brilliant.
‘He has earned the right to get to the position he is at. I was very proud of him representing his country on behalf of England. It’s a fitting reward, for me, for an excellent start to the season with us.

‘He’s been excellent in every respect in terms of his shot-stopping, patrolling of his penalty box and his distribution has been at the highest level.’
Southgate revealed after the game that Newcastle’s Kieran Trippier is ahead of Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold at right back.
Howe said: ‘The competition in that position is very fierce, but I think Kieran has been excellent, not just this season, but going back into last season. He certainly played a huge part in us staying in the division.
‘He’s just an excellent professional to have around the group. His leadership skills, he’s a role model for the younger players, the way he trains and applies himself every day, and I’m sure Gareth sees that when he’s with England.
‘He’s a really positive personality and I’m sure Gareth will lean on him in that respect in terms of using his experience to help the group.’
