Horrific new pics and X-rays of ‘worst injury ever’ show Marcelo tackle damage
Horrific pictures of the aftermath of Marcelo's horror challenge on Argentinos Juniors defender Luciano Sanchez have emerged online.
Sanchez suffered the 'worst injury ever' when he played Marcelo's Fluminense in the Copa Libertadores during the week. Marcelo, who is back in his native Brazil, was on the ball when it started to run away from him, the ex-Real Madrid man stretched to keep control but stomped down on Sanchez.
The defender's leg was visible broken in the sickening images – and it later emerged he also suffered a complete dislocation. Marcelo was shaken by the incident, and he left the pitch in tears.
However, new images have now appeared online showing x-rays of the dislocation, and then the 20 pins used to reconstruct his knee.

After the game, the Brazilian said on social media: "Today, I had to experience a very difficult moment on the pitch. I have inadvertently injured a colleague. I want to wish you the best possible recovery Luciano Sanchez. I send you all the strength in the world!"
"We are rivals, not enemies," the Argentinian club responded. And Fluminense coach Fernando Diniz said in a press conference that Marcelo did not deserve to be sent off and called the incident "an unfortunate event".

Diniz continued: "I'll make a metaphor. For me it's the same as when someone is driving down the street, they pass the green light and it's the driver's fault. Marcelo was dribbling and he had nowhere to put his foot. For me, Marcelo's expulsion is absolutely absurd, crazy. What was Marcelo going to do?"
According to local media, Sanchez's recovery time is between 12 and 18 months.
Argentinos Juniors were ahead for the majority of the first leg clash, before Samuel Xavier Brito bundled the ball home in the 87th minute – almost 20 minutes after Marcelo had been given his marching orders.
With the teams level at 1-1 on aggregate, Argentinos Juniors will now have to travel to Brazil for the second leg late on Tuesday evening.
Argentinos Juniors have conquered South America once, in 1985, while Fluminense has never won the Copa Libertadores.
