Hojlund learns Man Utd ‘could still go’ for Kane as star jets in for medical

Eriksen opens up on incoming Man Utd forward Hojlund

Manchester United could still sign both Rasmus Hojlund and Harry Kane as the Denmark striker jets into England to undergo a medical for his £72million move to Old Trafford from Atalanta. Meanwhile, Tottenham’s star man is in talks with Bayern Munich over a potential exit from north London, though no fee has been agreed between the two sides.

Bayern chiefs jetted into the country to discuss a potential move for Kane with Daniel Levy, but are still yet to match Spurs’ valuation of over £100m – even though the 30-year-old has just one year left on his current contract. The Bundesliga champions are prepared to pay a club-record fee for Kane, having had an £85m bid turned down, as the saga continues to develop.

Kane has set Bayern a deadline of Spurs’ opening Premier League game of the season to get a deal agreed, which sees Ange Postecoglu’s side travel to Brentford on August 13. If he fails to extend his contract then the club run the risk of losing their superstar for free in a year’s time – when United would be among the interested parties.

The Independent have claimed that United could even enter the race this summer, with less than two weeks remaining on Kane’s self-imposed deadline – especially if Bayern agree a fee for the England captain. Despite already closing in on a deal for Hojlund, United could further strengthen Erik ten Hag’s forward options by snatching Kane from Spurs.

Paris Saint-Germain are in a similar position in terms of their attitude towards signing Kane, but the man with 30 Premier League goals last season has no interest in a move to France.

United would represent a challenge to Bayern, though the Red Devils did walk away from negotiations earlier in the summer having been categorically told that Kane was not for sale.

Whether United step up their pursuit of Kane this summer or next, he would be the perfect role model for Hojlund as the 20-year-old puts the finishing touches on his £72m transfer.

The club are already prepared to play the Atalanta starlet out wide in order to help his transition to the league, as suddenly with the pair and Marcus Rashford – United may soon boast a stunning attacking trident.

Kane’s ability to drop deep and link play would certainly lend itself to accommodating two forwards such as Hojlund and Rashford with him and although Spurs have been reluctant to sell him to a rival, if a deal is not reached by August 13 then the Red Devils would likely back themselves to be one of the frontrunners for Kane’s signature next summer on a free transfer.
