Thierry Henry has torn into Neymar’s friends after posting a picture of the PSG star in McDonalds following his attendance at a £9,000 poker tournament – just a day after they were beaten by Bayern Munich.
The Brazilian forward is under fire for his behaviour in the wake of their 1-0 Champions League defeat last week, despite team-mate Kylian Mbappe urging his team-mates to ‘eat and sleep well’ to help them bounce back.
Neymar was heavily criticised by fans, who called him ‘unprofessional’ after reports he attended the European Poker Tour in Paris before being pictured grabbing a McDonalds in the city.
Neymar scored in PSG’s 4-3 win over Lille on Sunday before being forced off on a stretcher, with his foot put in a protective boot following a sprained ankle that now leaves him in huge doubt for the Bayern return leg next month.
Speaking on Amazon Prime Video Sport during coverage of the game, Henry opted against criticising Neymar for his outing and instead turned the focus to the player’s entourage who uploaded the picture of him in McDonalds on social media.

‘It was his friends that posted the photo? With friends like that, you don’t need enemies,’ he said.
A report from French outlet Sport 10 claimed that Neymar paid €10,000 (£8,895) to enter the poker game before heading out to a McDonalds in Paris later on.
Neymar was pictured sitting inside the fast food restaurant with his friends wearing a green jumper and black trousers.
His friend captioned the picture: ‘Levando ele pra fazer coisas normais’ – which translates to ‘taking him to do normal things’.
Neymar’s outing grinded with fans particularly after Mbappe’s rallying call to his team-mates in order to overturn their 1-0 deficit against Bayern.
‘Everyone needs to be healthy, sleep well, eat well,’ the forward said after the game.
‘We can do something there. If we are more offensive, they are uncomfortable. Let’s quickly move on and go again.’
After PSG beat Lille, Mbappe reiterated that his comments were not aimed at Neymar and that it was ‘advice for everyone’.
‘[They were] for everyone. For everyone! I’ve seen people talking about Ney and what happened afterwards… it was not a dig or anything.
‘I think in the context we are in now, we need anything but digs. It’s really advice for everyone because, as I said, when we have everyone, other teams have problems.’
It came after Kylian Mbappe (above) said that his team-mates must ‘sleep well and eat well’ before their return leg against Bayern Munich
