After being a much-anticipated signing in the summer, he is still yet to make a single appearance for the club due to struggling with injury.

The report states Winks is torn between undergoing an operation or continuing with his current treatment plan.

He is set to meet an international specialist next Monday when he will make a final decision on what to do.

If the midfielder does take the surgery option, Winks would be set to miss around three to four months, meaning Sampdoria may look to send him back to Tottenham, although Conte’s side would prefer him to remain with the Italian club.

Sampdoria are enjoying a torrid campaign so far, sitting in the relegation zone with just six points from 12 Serie A games.

Winks also has significant pedigree, winning 10 caps for England – although he hasn’t played since November 2020.
