Harry Redknapp "surprised" after Tottenham conversation over Harry Kane transfer
Harry Redknapp has spoken of his surprise following a conversation with someone at former club Tottenham Hotspur about Harry Kane's transfer situation.
Kane has been strongly linked with a move to Premier League champions Manchester City this summer after stating his intentions to leave to win trophies towards the end of last season.
City, however, have yet to submit a concrete bid and are not willing to meet Spurs' current asking price of £160million.
Redknapp was, however, surprised to learn that Spurs would not be dropping their demands for what would be a British record fee despite Kane wanting out of the club.
Speaking on the BetVictor Podcast, Redknapp said: "I spoke to somebody at Tottenham who told me that they think Harry Kane will stay – which I was quite surprised about – they just think Daniel [Levy] will not budge from the price he's put on him.
"He's not going to say 'well Harry's been a good servant and he really wants to go so we'll take this for him or whatever'."
It was Redknapp that gave an 18-year-old Kane his Spurs debut back in 2011 in a Europa League tie against Hearts and he now thinks Kane will remain at Spurs for the time being.
"If he doesn't get the money then I don't think he's going to budge. Unless he gets that money then he's going to be there next season that's what I was told."

Chelsea and Manchester United were also interested in Kane when he first revealed his hunger to leave the club and win trophies but it is City who have continued to be linked deep into the window.
At present, they are only willing to pay £120million for the England captain who has scored 221 goals in 336 appearances in North London.
Having already signed Jack Grealish from Aston Villa for £100million, they are not willing to meet Spurs' valuation of £160million but may use a player in the deal to please all parties.
Bernardo Silva reportedly wants to leave the club and is rumoured to be the preferred player to use in any potential deal.
Redknapp has been out of management since leaving Birmingham City in 2017 and is currently working as an advisor for Bournemouth, where he previously spent time as both a player and a manager.
