Harry Maguire opens up on "big" Man Utd discussions after Liverpool humiliation
Harry Maguire has insisted that Manchester United are still in the race for major silverware this season despite their capitulation against rivals Liverpool last weekend.
With the club captain detailing big discussions involving players and staff at the club following their 5-0 drubbing, they are now desperate to bounce back against Tottenham.
United are without a win in four Premier League fixtures since scraping past West Ham at the London Stadium, losing to each of Aston Villa, Leicester and Everton.
Even more worryingly for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, his side have conceded nine goals in their last two league outings having shipped four against Leicester at the King Power.
Maguire said before their Spurs clash: "It’s been a tough week and obviously you can’t just brush these things aside, especially when you lose to your rivals. To lose in the manner that we did was so disappointing.
"We’ve obviously had big discussions, we’ve analysed the game and the goals and looked at how we can do better and improve.
"There are lots of games to play in the Premier League, we’re in a strong position in the group in the Champions League and we’re still early on in the season.
"It’s a season in which we know we can still achieve things."

United brought in each of Raphael Varane, Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo during the summer window, but the Portuguese icon is looking increasingly frustrated with Sancho out of form and Varane injured.
In addition, the news that Paul Pogba is set to leave on a free this summer could further damage squad confidence, with more criticism aimed at Scott McTominay and Fred in recent weeks.
With Solskjaer now under intense pressure with his side eight points behind Chelsea in the table, defeat to Tottenham will intensify links to Antonio Conte at Old Trafford.
Having said that, Maguire is certain that the fans will continue to support the side in London this weekend, with United a point behind Spurs in the table.
Maguire added: "We know as a group of players we need to make sure we’re together and we’re positive.
"It’s a tough one to move on from but we need to move on.
"That’s the most important thing now, we need to come together as a group and a club. We know our fans will be there at Tottenham in their numbers and I’m sure they’ll be getting behind us."
