Harry Kane's wife 'in tears' over tribute to her husband before Euro 2020 final

Harry Kane’s wife, Kate, admits she was ‘in tears’ when she began writing her tribute to her husband ahead of England’s Euro 2020 final against Italy on Sunday.

The Tottenham striker will captain his nation at Wembley as the Three Lions look to win their first major tournament since 1966.

Kane is also in the running to finish as Euro 2020’s top scorer as he is currently one goal behind Cristiano Ronaldo, who has netted five times.

Kate Kane, meanwhile, has been in attendance at Wembley for England’s matches this summer, although she has not been allowed to come into contact with her husband due to the players being part of a strict bubble in order to limit the risk of catching coronavirus.

And ahead of the final, Kate admits she and their three children ‘can’t wait’ to have the England captain back at home.

‘H, you know I’m not one to cry too easily but I found myself in tears when I started writing down how proud you’re making us all and what you’re doing for the country,’ Kate said in her tribute to The Telegraph.

I used to laugh at you when we started going out and you’d be round mine playing penalties with my brother Tom and Seamus the dog, and you’d say you would be England captain one day.

‘But that’s you – you set yourself a goal and you achieve it and you always said you were going to the Euros to get to the final.

‘You’re just such an amazing husband and dad, and the children can’t wait to have you home.

‘Imagine telling them all about this summer one day when they’re a bit older. We all love you so much, Skipper. Bring it home for the country, you deserve to lift that trophy with this incredible England team!’
