Tottenham striker Harry Kane could soon be in a position to bring up his reported gentleman’s agreement with chairman Daniel Levy as Manchester City allegedly prepare a fresh bid to sign him in January. The Sky Blues showed strong interest in England’s captain over the summer, although Levy stood firm on his extortionate valuation which eventually saw Pep Guardiola’s side walk away from the deal.

By and large, Kane has endured a poor start to the campaign with just one goal in his first ten Premier League games.

Spurs have provided a relatively unstable environment of late, with Nuno Espirito Santo recently replaced by Antonio Conte at the helm.

While the Italian’s appointment could be the start of Kane’s return to form, the fact that Spurs are ten points off the early pace may be something of a concern.

During the summer window, Kane reportedly expressed his desire to go in search of trophies at one of England’s most successful sides.

Man City were heavily linked, and ESPN claim that Guardiola’s side are preparing a new bid to be launched in January.

Negotiations fell flat months ago due to Levy’s reported £200million valuation – an extortionate figure considering Kane is 28-years-old.

However, the latest report states that City hope Levy will now be open to a compromise, given Kane’s poor form to kick off this season.

Whether their prayers will be answered remains to be seen, but reports of a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ between Levy and Kane could leave the Spurs chairman with no choice.

According to BBC Sport, Kane believed he had such an agreement with Levy during City’s summer pursuit, although the striker eventually committed his short-term future to the north London side.

The pair compromising on a January exit is by no means out of the question, particularly considering Tottenham’s reported interest in Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic.

The 6ft 3in frontman is of a similar mould to Kane, and he is in better goal-scoring form than the Englishman so far this term.

Kane did put his domestic struggles behind him, however, by notching a hat-trick against Albania on Friday evening.

His perfect triple of left-foot, right-foot and header took the Three Lions to the brink of World Cup qualification.

A result against lowly San Marino next time out is all it will take, before their spot in Qatar is confirmed.

Whether Kane will be playing his club football elsewhere by the time the tournament rolls around will be played out over the coming weeks.
