Harry Kane’s cagey response when asked about his Tottenham future
Harry Kane insists he will leave any decision about his Tottenham future until after this summer’s Euros.
The England skipper gave a guarded response when asked if he believes he has to leave Spurs to win major trophies at club level.
Kane, 27, said: “I think that’s a hard question to answer right now. It’s important all my focus is on the rest of the season with Spurs and then the Euros.
”To be thinking about speculations or rumours would be damaging in terms of my own performance.
“I try to stay out of speculation as much as possible. I’m fully focussed on my job on the pitch from now until the end of the summer.
“Then we’ll see where we go from there.”
Tottenham’s last hope of silverware from a season that promised so much before Christmas is in next month’s Carabao Cup final against Manchester City.
And after their shock Europa League exit to Dinamo Zagreb, Jose Mourinho’s men can only guarantee Champions League football next season with a top four Premier League finish.
Whether succeeding on both those fronts will be enough to satisfy Kane – wanted by all of Europe’s elite – is open to debate.
However, the prolific hitman, with 27 goals this season, is in a defiant mood when it comes to talk of a Tottenham crisis.
He added: “It’s been a difficult spell but when you look at the bigger picture, we’re a couple of points off the top four and we’ve got a cup final to play.
“If, at the end of May, we’ve finished in the top four and won the Carabao Cup, I think everyone will say it’s been a pretty good season.”
