Harry Kane will refuse to train or play for Tottenham again until a move to Manchester City is granted, reports suggest. Kane refuses to turn up for a Covid-19 test on Monday and is unlikely to return.

Kane is set to force through a move away from Tottenham at any cost.

The England captain, who was granted extra leave after Euro 2020, was due to return to Hotspur Way on Monday morning.

However, he refused to show, leaving senior officials at Tottenham reeling.

Tottenham are adamant he won’t leave, and certainly not to a Premier League rival.

Kane is expected to return to training on Tuesday for his delayed Covid-19 test, but The Athletic reports he has adopted the stance that he won’t train again.

The striker, 28, will apparently refuse to train or play again unless a move is sanctioned.

Tottenham officials are said to be furious with Kane, and apparently have frustrations with him stemming from last year.

Kane wanted to leave last summer when City first came calling for his signature.

However, when City officials refused to stump up the cash – and The Athletic claims they ended their interest when they learned of Lionel Messi’s availability – Kane was forced to stay put.

Various reports claim the centre-forward believes he has made a gentleman’s agreement with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy allowing him to leave this summer if things on the pitch didn’t improve.

Last season was a calamity for Spurs, with manager Jose Mourinho losing his job after an embarrassing exit from the Europa League, as well as a poor Premier League finish.

However, Spurs officials are said to believe that no such agreement was made, and that Kane is expected to see out the rest of his three-year contract.

City, for what it is worth, are happy to wait and see what happens with Kane, and are said to be willing to pay up to £130million.

However, Spurs want a fee closer to £160m, and only from a foreign club, The Athletic claims.

Pep Guardiola hasn’t begun looking at back-up options, such is his desire to get a deal for Kane over the line as soon as possible.

But with Spurs determined to sell, it might take even more drastic action for Kane to be able to force a move through.
