Harry Kane will be "feeling like s***" with Spurs and Man City at loggerheads
Dimitar Berbatov believes that Harry Kane will be "feeling like s***" as he continues his absence from Tottenham Hotspur training amid interest from Manchester City.
Kane was due to return from his holidays on Monday but has yet to report for pre-season and has reportedly extended his family vacation by travelling from the Bahamas to Florida.
The two clubs, however, remain apart in their negotiations for the England captain, with City only willing to pay £120million which is well below Spurs' £160million valuation of the striker.
Berbatov went through a similar situation when he refused to play to force through a move to Manchester United in 2008.
Speaking to Betfair, the retired Bulgarian striker said that "Right now, Harry Kane will be feeling like s****. He will ask himself: "Am I doing the right thing?" These questions go through your head.
"He'll have his team around him, his agent, family and friends to give him advice."
Kane is believed to have chosen to remain absent from training as he believes he has a 'gentlemen's agreement' with the club to allow him to move on this summer and is frustrated that they have so far blocked a move to the Premier League champions.
"He's going to doubt himself, though, because he's Mr Spurs, he's been their best player for so long. The only person who is going to suffer from all this, even if it is for his own good, is the player," added Berbatov.

Kane joined Spurs as an 11-year-old in 2004 before making his debut seven years later, he has gone on to score 221 goals in 336 appearances and won the Premier League golden boot three times.
He is also the club's second highest scorer of all time and is just 45 goals behind the record tally of legendary striker Jimmy Greaves.
Berbatov departed Spurs in controversial circumstances in 2008 after refusing to play for the club as he looked to secure a move to Manchester United, a £34million deal was completed on deadline day at the end of August.
"I missed two games for Spurs when my transfer to United was about to happen and, looking back, I don't think it played much of a role in getting my move. I didn't skip training but I showed that I wanted to leave," recalls the 40-year-old.
"It was an unfortunate situation and it was tearing me apart inside because I'm not the type of person who wants to do that. When it comes to this moment, you need to be tough, unfortunately, and in business you need to be tough and stand your ground.
"The person who is the most affected when you do this is the player," admits Berbatov, perhaps providing a word of caution to Kane.
Berbatov joined Spurs from Bayer Leverkusen in 2006 and enjoyed a successful two years in north London before moving to United.

He scored 46 goals for the club in 102 appearances and was part of the side that won the League Cup in 2008, the last trophy won by Spurs.
As for the Kane situation, Berbatov hopes it is resolved quickly so to limit the impact it will have on Spurs' season: "I want the situation to be resolved before the season starts so that the team and player have time to adjust.
"Spurs may not have a replacement for Kane yet but they may have already be looking at who they can get with the money to replace him. It's going to be a big gap to fill."
Spurs begin their league campaign at home to Manchester City on August 15.
