Harry Kane transfer ‘close to being agreed’ before last-gasp Tottenham U-turn
Reports claim Daniel Levy was close to finalising the sale of Harry Kane to Paris Saint-Germain before a last-gasp U-turn after learning that the Tottenham striker had little interest in a move to the French champions. The Spurs chairman is set for further discussions with Bayern Munich in the coming days as the Bundesliga giants continue to probe for the England captain after already seeing two bids rebuffed this summer.
Kane is understood to be open to a departure but he remains unlikely to push for a transfer after entering the final year of his contract in north London.
Bayern are his most likely suitors and are willing to pay up to £86million to strike an agreement but it appears Levy was actually close to finalising a sale with PSG, whom Kane does not want to join.
According to The Telegraph, PSG were close to wrapping up the signing of Kane earlier in the window but Levy was forced to pull out of talks after recognising that his talisman had no interest in the transfer.
Now he will be forced to negotiate with Bayern as internally, Tottenham are sceptical of the prospect of losing a player of Kane’s value on a free transfer in 2024.

Ange Postecoglou is seeking to build for the future in north London and either way, he wants clarity on Kane’s situation which is now threatening to disrupt the Aussie’s plans for the 2023/24 season.
The Tottenham boss is currently proceeding with the mindset that Spurs will keep hold of Kane although he has refused to offer assurances that his frontman will still be with the club come the end of the summer transfer window.
“He’s with the club at the moment,” Postecoglou recently said. “He’s a legend of the football club already. If he retired today they’d still probably build a statue for him.
“He’s a fantastic guy, a fantastic professional, but with everything in life there are always uncertainties there.

“I don’t try to predict. You always have contingencies in your head, not just about Harry but about any player, because, knock on wood, someone could get injured on the eve of the season and you’ve got to be ready as a manager for all possibilities.
“It’s one of the attractions of the role I guess, to be able to work with people like Harry and Sonny and the guys who are already premier footballers in their own right but also for the club. Hopefully I get to work with Harry a lot longer.”
Kane is yet to speak out on his future but it’s understood he has been offered a lucrative contract extension by Tottenham which he is yet to show any interest in signing.
PSG are prepared to pay huge money to land the England skipper after freeing up Lionel Messi’s wages from their books.
The Parisians are also facing the prospect of losing Kylian Mbappe after telling the player he must leave imminently if he does not sign a new contract this summer.
Mbappe is the subject of a £259m world-record bid from Al Hilal but the Frenchman has no interest in moving to Saudi Arabia and has refused to discuss personal terms.
Instead, he is prepared to see out the final year of his deal at the Parc des Princes ahead of a 2024 switch to Real Madrid – even if it means not playing football next season.
Kane would be the ideal marquee signing to raise spirits in Paris but having spoken to Thomas Tuchel, he is said to be sold by Bayern’s project as he targets Champions League glory.
