Harry Kane snaps back at reporter after being asked about Gareth Southgate
Harry Kane has hit back at a reporter who questioned Gareth Southgate's future at England following an embarrassing defeat in the Nations League on Tuesday evening.
Southgate's side went into their clash with Hungary bottom of the group after one loss and two draws. And the Hungarian side ran riot at Molineux, finding the net four times against a lacklustre England.
However, when asked if England are on the right path under Southgate, Kane dismissed any suggestion he should walk. The Tottenham man said: “Yeah. Without any question. That’s not even a question I should be answering if I’m honest.”
Kane added: "We’re preparing for a big World Cup, and will learn a lot from this camp.
"Let’s not forget where we’ve come from: a first final in 60 years, and a semi-final at a World Cup. Compared to where we were over the last 50 years, it’s no time to panic. It’s not going to be perfect every game, the fans have to understand that.”
However, he concluded: "It’s a disappointing night. First half, I thought we created enough chances to score, but it’s been the story of our Nations League so far. We haven’t quite had the cutting edge."

England suffered their worst home defeat since 1928 as Kane & Co crumbled at the hands of a Hungarian side who had already beaten England ten days ago.
It was the second time England have lost on home turf to Hungary – the last time, in 1953, saw English football rejuvenated, which led to a World Cup triumph in 1966.
