Harry Kane ‘expecting breakthrough’ in Man City transfer as Spurs play hardball

Harry Kane is reportedly expecting a breakthrough in his Manchester City transfer saga despite Tottenham continuing to play hardball.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has so far this summer remained determined to only allow Kane to leave the club for a fee worth £160million.

However, according to The Sun, club sources are now resigned to the fact that Kane will join the Premier League champions before the end of the current transfer window.

This news comes as Pep Guardiola's side prepare to make a second bid for the England captain after having their first offer rejected earlier in the window.

City saw a bid worth £100million knocked back earlier in the summer and are now understood to be readying a second offer with the value of £120million.

It is also being reported that tensions are rising between Kane's representatives and the Spurs chairman as he continues to block the 28-year-old's exit.

Kane returned from his holidays last week before training with his team-mates for the first time on Tuesday, having not been included in the matchday squad for Spurs' 1-0 over City on Sunday.

The forward believed that he had permission from Levy to take an extra week holiday but new manager Nuno Espirito Santo requested his return just two days into the break.

The club have continued to maintain that Kane was due to report back for training on August 2 and did not have permission for the extra week's holiday.

Spurs flew out to Portugal on Wednesday for their Europa Conference League play-off tie against Pacos de Ferreira, with Kane included in the 25-man squad for the two-legged fixture.

It is currently unknown whether Kane has travelled for the first leg, but if he were to play in either leg it would not make him ineligible for City's Champions League campaign if he were to join the club.

Kane originally told Spurs that he wanted to leave the club in order to win trophies at the end of last season, as the club entered their 13th year without silverware.

Both Manchester United and Chelsea registered early interest in the three-time golden boot winner, but Kane's preferred destination has always been City.
