Tottenham forward Harry Kane is reportedly tempted by the possibility of joining Bayern Munich ahead of next season after his agent and brother, Charlie, was contacted by the Bundesliga giants to gauge the player’s interest. Kane was linked with a potential move to the Allianz Arena throughout the summer window as Bayern searched for a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski, but the England skipper ultimately ended up staying in north London.
Bayern went on to sign Rennes forward Mathys Tel in a deal worth around £18million but are likely to remain in the hunt for a first-choice striker to play ahead of the teenager between now and the start of next season. They are said to be keen admirers of Kane and have been encouraged by the player’s apparent desire to join their ranks in the not-too-distant future, according to Florian Plettenburg.
It is said that Kane ‘can really, really imagine’ playing for Bayern as he weighs up a new challenge away from Tottenham, who are reportedly keen to extend his contract over the coming weeks and months. The German heavyweights are also thought to have already reached out to his brother, Charlie, who serves as Kane’s agent.
Bayern are said to have identified Kane as their top target in attack and could be set to unleash a relentless pursuit of his signature in order to tempt Tottenham into selling up next summer. However, they are likely to be forced into paying a significant fee in their efforts to snap him up, with Daniel Levy having already rejected a couple of nine-figure bids from Manchester City two years ago.

Their pursuit of Kane could be aided by the forward’s contract situation, though, with his current deal set to expire in the summer of 2024 as things stand. Tottenham will be desperately hoping that an agreement can be reached to extend his stay at the club as a matter of priority in order to avoid a dilemma over whether to sell next year or risk losing him on a free transfer when his contract runs out.
Tottenham’s hopes of keeping Kane may have already been boosted by a previous suggestion that he would not be willing to consider the idea of a move abroad, with his preference able to dash Bayern’s hopes of rubber-stamping his signature unless he has since changed his mind.
“I guess injuries would be the biggest thing,” Kane told The Overlap a year ago when quizzed on what could stop him from breaking Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League scoring record between now and the end of his career.
“Obviously I’ve had injuries, ankle injuries and I haven’t had anything that’s kept me out for months and months, touch wood, but I guess for me I think injuries would be the biggest thing stopping me. Of course there’s always the option of maybe moving abroad one day, but I don’t think that really interests me in the near future.”
