Haaland 'WON'T end his career at Man City', claims Norwegian insider
‘It makes no sense’ for Erling Haaland to sign another contract at Manchester City, says his confidente Jan Aage Fjortoft… who predicts there is no chance striker will not move on to another club at some point
- Erling Haaland has scored 21 goals in 16 games since joining Manchester City
- The 22-year-old striker joined City on a five-year contract this summer
- Haaland’s deal sees him earn close to £900,000-a-week including bonuses
Erling Haaland has made a stunning impact at Manchester City since joining this summer but already the Norwegian has one eye on the future, according to reports.
Haaland has scored 21 goals in just 16 games for Pep Guardiola’s side so far this season – making his £51m transfer from Borussia Dortmund seem a bargain.
The 22-year-old wasn’t short of suitors when he swapped Dortmund for City this summer and according to Haaland insider Jan Aage Fjortoft this won’t be the last club he plays for.
Erling Haaland will be waving goodbye to Manchester City in future, claim reports abroad
Writing in German publication Bild, ex-Norwegian footballer-now-journalist Fjortoft – who led a documentary on Haaland’s inner workings earlier this year – reports that his Norwegian counterpart ‘will not end his career at Manchester City’.
Citing reports that City are looking to tie down Haaland to a new contract, Fjortoft dismisses the notion that their No 9 would sign it.
Haaland’s contract is until June 30, 2027 and having only joined a few months ago he is no rush to sign a new one.
‘I can hardly imagine that this could make sense for him and his team,’ Fjortoft – who played for Swindon Town, Middlesbrough, Sheffield United and Barnsley in the 1990s – continues.
‘He’s only been there for three months.’
As detailed by Sportsmail earlier this month, it is understood that he currently gets a basic salary salary which is in line with the other higher earners at the Etihad Stadium. However, a series of substantial, almost-guaranteed bonuses see his weekly wage surge beyond the £850,000 mark.
Thanks to a series of relatively straightforward bonuses, he is expected to pick up at least £45m (£865,000 a week) for a year’s work.
