Haaland trains in broken boots after lucrative Nike deal ends amid £8m Puma talk

Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland has been pictured training in battered Nike boots amid talk of him penning a lucrative sponsorship deal with Puma.

Haaland is arguably the most coveted player in Europe right now with clubs queuing up to prise him away from Germany.

But he's also a man in demand off the pitch, too.

The striker's €1million (£836,000) agreement with American sporting giants Nike is believed to have come to an end on January 1st with rumours linking him to a new mega-deal with Puma worth €8m (£6.7m).

Whilst Haaland is yet to make a commitment one way or the other, he has been pictured by FootyHeadlines training in a pair of bashed-up, old and broken Nike Mercurials – hinting that he could be on the verge of ditching Nike for good.

BILD revealed back in December that Puma were keen to pinch Haaland from Nike's stable and tie the goal machine down to a deal that would dwarf his previous one with Nike.

And Puma CEO Björn Gulden was quoted by Ruhr Nachrichten just a few days earlier admitting he'd love to sign Haaland up.

"I would like to have him under contract, that can happen," said Gulden, hinting at a future deal. "Erling in Puma shoes at BVB – that would be my very favorite combination!"

Who do you think Haaland should join next summer if he leaves Dortmund? Let us know in the comments section below.

Puma are Dortmund's current kit suppliers and penned a bumper new agreement with the German club back in 2019.

Although Gulden may get his wish of seeing Haaland in Puma boots, it's unlikely that he'll see that happen at Dortmund.

Haaland's departure next summer is beginning to look inevitable as a host of European heavyweights plot a future move for the striking prodigy.

Manchester City have now joined the race for Haaland's signature and see him as their 'first-choice' target in their hunt for a No.9, according to The Athletic.

City are set to go all-out to beat the likes of Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, PSG and Manchester United to a deal for the Norwegian superstar next summer.
