Haaland left speechless when called a ‘Nordic meat shield’ after arriving in US
Erling Haaland didn't know where to look after being called a "Nordic meat shield" on arrival at Manchester City's pre-season tour of the United States.
Haaland and the rest of the City team were treated to an unusual welcome by jokester Troy Hawke as they began their spell across the pond. Hawke is played by British comedian Milo McCabe, who has built a huge following by taking his Greeters Guild character around the country.
Hawke usually welcomes and waves goodbye to customers outside shops and restaurants, but he has also popped up at a Celebrity Awards shows, notably pranking Peter Andre. But this time he turned his attention to the Premier League champions – with hilarious results.

The comedian surprised a host of City stars with his bizarre comments, including Jack Grealish, Kevin Phillips, Pep Guardiola and Kevin De Bruyne, who was asked "What would Jan Molby do?"
However, the strangest moment of all was reserved for new boy Haaland. With his eyes firmly on where he was walking, the former Borussia Dortmund striker didn't appear to bat an eyelid at Hawke.

But he soon pricked his ears up when the British prankster addressed him by saying: "Welcome to training camp. You are a tremendous Nordic meat shield. Have at it?"
Hidden cameras then panned to a bemused Haaland as he walked through the entrance to the complex with a confused expression across his face.
Football fans on Twitter loved the skit, with one person writing: "There is no better content on Twitter than this today. The Haaland greeting is just superb. What a belter."
A second user added: "I particularly like the description of Haaland as a 'tremendous Nordic meat shield.' Looking forward to hearing that on Match of the Day."
Another commenter added: "I've watched this dozens of times now but I'm still wetting myself at Haaland's reaction to being called a Nordic meat shield."
While someone else said: "This is the best thing on the internet. I can’t stop watching it. Never referring to Haaland as anything other than a 'tremendous Nordic meat shield' from this point forward."
City will play two games during their tour of the US. They take on Club America in the early hours of Thursday morning before facing Bayern Munich on Sunday.
