Haaland leaves Dortmund chief ‘surprised’ with comments about his next club

Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc has revealed that he was surprised by the recent comments of sought after star Erling Haaland.

The Norwegian is one of the most in-demand players in world football at the moment, with top European clubs all interested in the striker.

And the striker’s recent comments about feeling pressed to make a decision on his future has left Zorc shocked.

He told Kicker: “Erling's statements surprised us a bit.

“There is currently no deadline, no deadlines, and there have not even been any discussions. But that we want and have to have talks at some point is clear, understandable and only professional."

Haaland has a £68million release clause in his contract which becomes active this summer, which is an eyewatering deal considering Transfermarkt believe the former Salzburg star is worth £135m.

The striker, who has scored 15 goals in 13 Bundesliga appearances this season, told the media this weekend: “Well, the last six months I have chosen not to say anything out of respect for Dortmund, but now the club has started to press me into making a decision, but all I want to do is play football.

"But they press me to make a decision now about my future. So that means I have to make a decision soon.

"As I said they have put a lot of pressure on me and I have to accept that. I have chosen not to say anything out of respect for my club and the fans. But now it says itself that a lot of pressure is coming from the club, so now is the time to get things started.

It remains to be seen where Haaland moves to this summer, or whether he decides to commit his future to Dortmund and remain at the Signal Iduna Park for another season.
