Guendouzi makes thinly veiled Arteta dig by naming best manager and player
Matteo Guendouzi has named the best footballer he's played with and best manager he's worked under in what could be interpreted as a thinly veiled dig at Mikel Arteta.
The France midfielder is currently plying his trade in the Bundesliga having been loaned out to Hertha BSC at the start of the season.
Guendouzi was exiled from the Gunners first team after clashing with Neal Maupay in the defeat to Brighton towards the end of the 2019/20 campaign.
Arteta was supposedly furious with his attitude and Guendouzi never featured for Arsenal again.
Despite his potential, the 21-year-old was loaned out in order to gain some first team playing time.
And he's received just that, starting 13 games in a row up until being benched for the recent defeat to Bayern Munich.
But despite the game time, it seems Guendouzi still isn't over Arteta's decision to ship him out on loan.
The Frenchman was recently asked who the best footballer he's ever played with is. He told Oh My Goal : "Mesut Ozil.
"Technically, whether he’s on the pitch during a match or on the training ground he has a technical ease.
"He reads the game better than everyone else. He’s a player I’ve loved playing with."
And when asked who is the best coach he's worked with, Guendouzi simply replied: "Unai Emery."
Given Arteta recently sanctioned the sale of Ozil and replaced Emery as Gunners boss, Guendouzi's answers can't be helped but looked upon as somewhat of a thinly veiled dig.
