Pep Guardiola has pulled the 'excuse of the season' after he suggested Manchester City's inability to fly back from Newcastle could hinder their unbeaten start.

One rival fan called it the 'excuse of the season', but City fans seemed a little more upbeat: "After I've heard this I am sure that we will arrive back in a plane!"

"Stop complaining and play football bruv," another responded. While a third shared: "Yet some people are asking why are players injured…"

City have been picture perfect at the start of the new season, as Guardiola's side look to defend their Treble victory last year.

The defending champions are six for six in the Premier League, and they got their European campaign off to the perfect start with a win against Crvena zvezda.
