Pep Guardiola reveals he will LEAVE Manchester City at the end of the next season in 2023, as Spaniard discusses plans to move into international management after seven years in the Premier League
Pep Guardiola has confirmed that he will leave Manchester City at the expiration of his current contract and that his next role will be in international football, in bombshell news for the Premier League champions.
The Spaniard, 50, has been in charge at the Etihad since 2016, winning the Premier League three times, while there are high hopes he can end the club’s wait for a Champions League triumph.
And Guardiola has told of his plans to leave City come the conclusion of his contract, which will expire at the end of the 2022-23 campaign, which would mark seven years in charge of the English club.

Guardiola joined the Premier League champions in 2016 and is planning to leave in 2023
The 50-year-old said he would ‘take a break’ from football at that stage, with a move to international management on the cards.
‘A national team, yes. Next step will be a national team, if there is a possibility. A national team is the next step,’ he said at an XP Investimentos event, as reported by Globo on Wednesday.
‘I must take a break after seven years (at City). I need to stop and see, learn from other coaches, and maybe take that path.

‘I would like to train for a European Championship, a Copa America, a World Cup’
Guardiola had taken a 12-month hiatus following his departure from Barcelona in 2012, having spent a hugely successful four years at the Nou Camp. He then joined Bayern Munich in 2013.
He has been a long term target of City’s and the Premier League champions finally landed their man five years ago. Guardiola has won three league titles, the FA Cup and four successive Carabao Cups during his time in the North West.
All that remains for Guardiola to win with City is the Champions League, having lost out in last season’s final in Porto against Chelsea.
