Jack Grealish is expected to complete his £100million move to Manchester City today as he becomes the most expensive Premier League player ever.

The Aston Villa captain will reportedly arrive in Manchester where he is set to sign a contract with the Premier League champions as their first major summer arrival.

City have pursued the 25-year-old since March and maintained a strong interest as he helped England to the European Championships final, before opening talks over a bid last Friday.

Now the Daily Mail reports the England international and Villa talisman will become a Man City player imminently ahead of the new season.

Man City are usually wary of spending too much money on a single player, opting instead to divide their huge transfer budget across various investments.

But Grealish is a superstar signing and an exception for Pep Guardiola, who is looking to defend his side’s Premier League title and secure that elusive Champions League winners’ medal next season.

Attacking maestro Grealish ranked third in chances created last season behind Mason Mount and Bruno Fernandes while notching 10 assists in the league – the joint-third best tally despite suffering injury.

He returned to training at Villa following his Mykonos holiday on Monday and acted professionally despite the move being in its final stages.

Grealish will now get the opportunity to compete for silverware and play alongside his favourite player Kevin De Bruyne, both of which he has cited as career dreams.

City will not end their transfer window with Grealish’s signature, however, as they turn their attention on signing another boyhood club legend, Harry Kane, from Tottenham Hotspur.

Spurs want £150million while City are rumoured to have set a £130million limit for the England striker's transfer, meaning there is plenty more to negotiate ahead of the two sides' clash on August 15.

Meanwhile, Villa will be gutted at losing their talisman and club icon but have already started rebuilding by signing attackers Emiliano Buendia from Norwich City and Leon Bailey from Bayer Leverkusen.
