Grealish in tears during emotional interview as Man City win Champions League
Jack Grealish was left in tears after Manchester City won the Champions League on Saturday night, reflecting on the work he has put in and who has helped him reach the pinnacle of club football.
The England international played the full 90 minutes as City beat Inter Milan 1-0 in Istanbul, with Rodri scoring the only goal of the game.
The narrow victory completed an incredible treble, with Pep Guardiola’s side already having won the Premier League and FA Cup this season.
Grealish arrived at Manchester City in 2021 from Aston Villa for an enormous £100m fee and the 27-year-old thanked his manager for trusting him and his family for everything they have done for him.
‘It’s what you work your whole life for, innit? I’m just so happy, man,’ an emotional Grealish told BT Sport.
‘I played so bad today, I was awful, but I don’t care. To win the treble with this group if players and this staff, it’s so special.
‘Anyone that knows me knows how much of a family person I am and how much I love football, this is what I’ve worked for my whole life.

‘You think about all the people that have helped you along the way I’ve just seen my family in the crowd, it makes me emotional.’
On his manager, Grealish said: ‘Just a genius, isn’t he. I just said to him that I want to thank you because you’ve made this happen for me, put so much faith in me, buying me for a lot of money and even last year when I was playing crap, he stayed there with me.
‘This year he’s given me that platform to go and perform, so I just thanked him.’
