Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka has left one lifelong Gunners fan overjoyed with his response to the postponement of their game against Wolves.

The Swiss international invited supporter Jack Robinson as his guest for the Gunners’ clash with league leaders Man City on January 1.

The Gunners were due to host Wolves on Tuesday in the Premier League but the match was called off due to the visitors being unable to fulfil the fixture, after having a mixture of Covid-19 cases and injuries in their squad.

The decision left one American Arsenal supporter devastated as he heard the news just minutes before he boarded a flight to London.

Jack had flown with his wife Heather from St Louis, Missouri, and had arranged the trip six months prior as part of their 10 year wedding anniversary celebrations.

The couple had booked the trip after their plans to watch Arsenal’s pre-season tour of America were cancelled.

But their hopes of watching Mikel Arteta’s side at the Emirates stadium were dashed as they discovered Covid had affected their plans once again as they began boarding their flight to London.

Xhaka saw Jack’s emotional post on social media and reached out to him via Instagram to offer him a second chance to fulfil his dreams.

‘Hi Jack, I just got home from the game and I have seen your tweets that you and your wife were flying over from America for our game against Wolves,’ Xhaka wrote on Instagram, via football.london.

‘I could see you were upset about the game being cancelled as you had waited a long time to fly over to watch us.

‘If you are still in London on the 1st [January] Arsenal vs Manchester City game as my guest to thank you for your dedication to Arsenal. Would that be good for you?’

The Swiss midfielder saw the emotional post and reached out to Jack on Instagram

Jack responded by thanking the midfielder for the gesture, saying ‘words can’t express how I feel at this time, you reaching out to us… you don’t understand what this means.’

He took to Twitter to express his gratitude as he insisted it means the world to him and his wife and branded Xhaka a hero.

‘Unreal last 7 hours, i cant even begin to say how speechless i with this club, this means the absolute world to me and my wife,’ he wrote.

‘Absolute dream. I cant thank Granit Xhaka enough for reaching out and coming through like the hero he is.’

‘Again speechless over this act by Xhaka, forever grateful, forever will love this club.’

Arsenal face league leaders City on New Year’s Day in the first of a challenging run of fixtures for the Gunners.

Areta’s side will look to cling on to their spot in the top four with games against Tottenham and Burnley, while also facing Liverpool and Nottingham Forest in cup games throughout the month of January.
