Graeme Souness says he is still waiting for Manchester City ace Jack Grealish to invite him on a night out. Grealish recently joked that he would be happy to go out with the Liverpool hero as long as he can bring ex-Manchester United star Paul Pogba with him.
Souness has been a vocal critic of Grealish since the winger moved to City from Aston Villa for a British record £100million transfer fee last summer. The 69-year-old, who regularly criticised Pogba during his time at Old Trafford, recently told talkSPORT he didn’t have an agenda against Grealish and that he’d “love a night out with him.”
When the radio station’s social media admins posted Souness’ request to Twitter, Grealish replied with two laughing face emojis and wrote: “Let’s do it!! As long as I can bring Pogba as a +1.”
Grealish was named in the Citizens’ starting line-up on Sunday as they thrashed Manchester United 6-3 in the Premier League. And following the showdown, Souness provided an update on his big night out with the England international.
“I thought he had a really good first half,” the veteran pundit told talkSPORT. “I thought he did. I thought he had a really good first half. I’m still waiting for the invitation Jack. My choice of restaurant. I choose the wines and you pick the tab up.”
Souness’ criticism of Grealish has clearly hit a nerve with the player, who hit out at the ex-midfielder during a recent press conference for England. “I don’t know what his problem is with me,” Grealish told reporters. “He always says stuff about me. I try not to read a lot of it. It is difficult when he’s on Sky Sports and it’s everywhere around the training ground at times. He was obviously a great player and won a lot but I don’t know what it is with what he says about me or what problem he’s got.”

But Souness told the 27-year-old to stop being precious. “I don’t have a problem with him, I don’t have a problem with anyone,” the Scot responded. “I don’t have a problem with Jack at all. I think Jack is a good player, technically he’s fantastic. I don’t believe we can be critical of the modern player.
“I just feel, don’t be so precious. I don’t have a vendetta against anyone at all. It’s my opinion at this time on Jack Grealish. Really Jack doesn’t have to listen to me, he doesn’t have to listen to anyone. The only opinion that counts for Jack Grealish should be the manager’s.”
