Gerard Pique has reportedly been told he is not needed at Barcelona anymore – and he could leave the side this summer.
The Catalan has apparently been told he's not wanted by Xavi for his 'unprofessional' off-field conduct and his deteriorating physical condition. The news reached Pique just days before his high-profile split from Colombian music artist Shakira.
According to Spanish-outlet SPORT, Xavi has grown tired of his former teammate's numerous business ventures off the field. The report claims Xavi doesn't question Pique's ability to perform at the highest level, but he's concerned about the defender's ability to deal with the hectic schedule.
It's also believed that Pique is owed approximately €40million (£34.3m) by Barca for deferred payments.
However, Barcelona are hoping for a dignified exit for one of their star man – and they even hope Pique will let them off some of the £34.3m that they owe him.
Fellow Barcelona legend Carles Puyol waived some money he was owed when he left the Catalan side in 2014.
