Gazza eyes SAS Who Dares Wins after jumping out of helicopter and quitting fags
England icon Paul Gascoigne is eyeing an appearance on television show SAS after an adventurous few years on reality television.
The England hero has previously been seen jumping out a helicopter on I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! and wants to extend his spell on reality TV.
He also made appearances on Strictly Ice Dancing, and reality television has become a strong passion in recent years after his football career.
Speaking to OK!, he discussed his ambitions for TV as well as Euro 2020, with it being 25 years since Euro ’96 and his famous dentist chair celebration:
He said: “I would like to do SAS or a Bear Grylls show, but I need to get my shoulder and hip sorted out. I slipped and broke my neck doing Strictly Ice Dancing. I have screws in my neck now. I’m falling to bits!”
He also explained more about life in the jungle, when working I’m a Celeb: “So, it was in Honduras and it was tough.
“The first few days were really tough, but then you get used to it. It was hard – no cigarettes, no coffee, no food.
“It was a challenge for all of us, but we just had to get on with it. We had to hunt for our own food – though it felt like there was no food to hunt!
“You were given a little fishing line and I caught a barracuda, so that was OK."
Gascoigne also explained his regret over not being able to play football, despite his age of 54.
He said he’ll follow England and the Euros but won’t feel the same joy because he doesn’t enjoy watching games on TV.
Gazza added: “I don’t think I will get to any games. I’ll watch it on TV, but I don’t like to, really. I miss football so much I find it hard to watch. I want it to be me out on the pitch."
Despite that, Gascoigne is optimistic about England’s chances at the tournament and thinks that, like the World Cup, they can make the last four of the Euros.
He continued: “Well, since 1966 we keep thinking we’re going to win something! I think we’ve got a decent chance.
“We’ve got a good young squad, they’re playing well and they’ve scored a lot of goals.
“I think we’ve got a pretty good chance – I think we can make the semis.”
Gascoigne last played for England in 1998 after a decade-long career where he managed to earn 57 caps, scoring 10 goals.
His most famous moments in the England white came during the World Cup in 1990 and Euros in 1996.
