Gary Neville’s explanation on ‘cold-blooded’ Salah amid Dalglish fight comments
Gary Neville has given his verdict on Mohamed Salah, labelling him “cold blooded” after comments from Graeme Souness that he would have been fighting Kenny Dalglish at the end of every game.
Salah scored twice for Liverpool in the 3-1 win over West Ham on Sunday, providing two magnificent finishes to steal the show.
However, the Egyptian attracted some criticism after the win in east London, with Souness insisting he is a greedy player.
“Have you ever seen anyone greedier than him? Ever?” he asked Jamie Redknapp on Sky Sports, before replying that he had never played with anyone he considered to be as greedy as Salah.
“I sit and watch Liverpool play and think, if my mate Kenny [Dalglish] had been playing with him they’d have been fighting each other in the dressing room after every game, he just wouldn’t tolerate it.
“But his numbers, he’ll say at the end of his career, ‘look at my numbers.’”
However, Manchester United legend Neville had a different take on Salah, insisting that while he is perhaps not as much of a team player as his pal Sadio Mane, he would pick the former over the latter as he is a non-stop threat.
"I thought Salah would always leave Liverpool, I said that a couple of years ago, maybe it was a little bit premature at the time, saying I thought he’d leave in the next 18 months,” said Neville.
“I just always had the feeling that he would want to go and explore playing in a different country and he would have aspirations to do so.
“So it doesn’t surprise me. The reason I think I’ve always chosen Salah over Mane is Salah, it’s just cold-blooded.

“Mane’s a team player, you know Mane would put the team first, and Salah is cold-blooded and that’s not a negative.
“That makes Liverpool, I think, vicious as a team because I think he’s the type that will just go and do it again, and again, and again, and again, and not stop.
“That’s why the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, whoever it is that is after him, is probably in his ear."
