Gary Neville told he should go on Strictly after Trent Alexander-Arnold demo

Gary Neville looked to be auditioning for Strictly Come Dancing as he gave a demo on Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The Sky Sports pundit attempted to visually explain Alexander-Arnold's defensive technique on the Anfield pitch after Liverpool beat Leicester 2-1 on Friday (December 30) night. But he ended up being teased by colleagues Kelly Cates and Jamie Carragher for his jigging.

Host Cates begun singing the Strictly theme tune while Neville jerked forward and back to mimic how to defend as a right-back. Carragher then asked: "So did you learn that at The Cliff at the [Manchester United] training ground or The Hacienda?"

Neville replied: "I learnt it at the Monday Night Football club, the Monday night club." Before Cates joked: "And which partner do you want when you go on Strictly?"

The former United defender praised Alexander-Arnold, who's faced heavy criticism for his work or lack thereof at the back, after he kept lively Leicester winger Harvey Barnes quiet in the match.

He also added: "With great respect to Kieran Trippier, we shouldn’t be watching a unique talent like Trent Alexander-Arnold on the bench in a World Cup. Even though we’ve got great full-backs, we’ve got to make sure we get our great talents on."

And earlier in the broadcast Neville claimed he wasn't disappointed that Liverpool beat United to the signing of Cody Gakpo. "In terms of the Manchester United side of things, I saw him at the World Cup, I actually didn’t think Manchester United did need [him]," he said.

"I know a lot of fans have been disappointed. But with Rashford, Garnacho, Sancho, Antony, Jurgen Klopp said himself he’s better off that left side, you can say Martial as well so from that rivalry, I think Liverpool do need him.

"I wasn’t as disappointed as a United fan from watching in the World Cup because I thought he was a similar player to what they had."
