Gary Neville admitted that he was surprised that VAR official Jarred Gillett overruled referee Anthony Taylor’s penalty decision.
The penalty shout came as Kai Havertz was brought down by Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Casemiro in the box.
Arsenal fans were quick to express their disappointment at the overruling of the decision, and Gary Neville was equally surprised that there was no penalty given.
‘As soon as he went through the middle of Casemiro, Havertz was in business.’ The pundit said.
‘He’s taken some criticism, he’s looked ragged today. It’s actually the left foot that catches him, I don’t think it’ll be overturned, he charges into the space with real purpose.

Record signing Declan Rice secured a 96th minute goal to claim three points for the Gunners
Former referee Mike Dean insisted the right decision was made. He said: ‘I can see how we got to the right decision, from the ganty it looked like a nailed on penalty.
‘But from another angle the defender hasn’t committed a foul, so credit to VAR for coming to the right decision.’
Neville added after the match: ‘I was shocked it was overturned. I thought there was enough in it to follow the pattern we’ve seen so far which is to stick with the on field position.
‘If I was fullback I’d be saying no he’s kicked my leg, but it doesn’t fit with the high bar we’ve seen.’
The Gunners were level at 1-1 throughout the match at the Emirates, before record signing Declan Rice secured a 96th minute winner, shortly followed by Gabriel Jesus netting on his return from injury.
Meanwhile, United boss Erik ten Hag was left fuming by some of the decisions made in the match.
He said: ‘The performance is right, we played a good game but everything went against us. And then you don’t win the game.
‘You saw the game, it’s not offside, that is the wrong angle, then a penalty on Hojlund, we concede a goal and that is a foul on Jonny Evans.’
