Manchester United breakout star Alejandro Garnacho is yet to be congratulated by Cristiano Ronaldo after winning the club’s Player of the Month award for November. The winger flourished in the shortened month of football and could quickly become a starter under Erik ten Hag.
In all competitions, Garnacho scored two and assisted two in four quick-fire November appearances for the Red Devils. The teenager scored the winner against Real Sociedad in the Europa League before repeating that trick against Fulham in the final match before the World Cup break in the Premier League, tucking home a neat finish with one of the final kicks of the game.
Garnacho was rewarded for his performances with the United’s monthly award, posting on his Instagram to thank supporters for voting for him. He captioned the post: “Player of the Month award! Thanks to all the fans who voted for me, the hard work continues!”
David de Gea was quick to congratulate his teammate, commenting: “Good lad!” Club captain Harry Maguire also praised the 18-year-old’s performances, saying: “Well deserved mate.”

Other stars such as Casemiro and Tyrell Malacia also responded to the post, praising how he has developed so quickly. Fellow academy graduates Charlie Savage, Charlie McNeill and Marc Jurado also responded, perhaps taking confidence from how Garnacho has risen through the ranks in a matter of months and proving that Ten Hag is willing to offer youngsters the chance to shine.
Ronaldo, however, did not respond to the post despite the Instagram post effectively being an open goal of an opportunity for him to ensure that he has not completely burned bridges with his team-mates following his explosive interview with Piers Morgan. The Portugal international is currently preparing for the Qatar World Cup, leaving United officials stewing at his recent comments.
Speaking to Morgan, Ronaldo spoke of how he had ‘no respect’ for Ten Hag and that United have hardly changed since he left the club for Real Madrid back in 2009. The Red Devils are believed to be exploring the chance to terminate their No 7’s contract, releasing a statement earlier this week that read: “Manchester United has this morning initiated appropriate steps in response to Cristiano Ronaldo’s recent media interview.
“We will not be making further comment until this process reaches its conclusion.” Ronaldo has hardly featured for United so far this season and a forward is certainly on the shopping list heading into January, though Garnacho’s impressive displays could certainly leave fans hoping that their teenage sensation does not have his opportunities hampered by a new arrival.
