Gareth Bale expertly trolls Real Madrid journalists seconds after joining LAFC
Gareth Bale expertly trolled Real Madrid journalists during his announcement video for Los Angeles FC.
The Welshman was welcomed in open arms by the MLS club and their fervent fans as he touched down in the States. And as part of the announcement of the 32-year-old joining, he spoke Spanish to the camera for the side’s Spanish-language Twitter account. Being the City of Angels, there is a large Latino community, with many of the players in the squad already being able to speak the language.
Indeed, the media in Spain had often criticsed the winger for not speaking their native language – and news of the recent video appears to have rattled publication Marca. The Spanish paper slammed Bale in a piece with the headline: ‘Bale goes to the United States to speak Spanish’

The article went on to say that he spoke the language in 'almost perfect' fashion, but bemoaned that it had ‘taken nine years to hear Gareth Bale speak Spanish well'.
Earlier this year, the outlet used pretty grotesque language when they described Bale as a ‘parasite.’ “The Bale parasite came from the cold and rainy Britannia,” it read. “He settled in Spain, at Real Madrid, where, masked, he first showed diligence and love for the guest, but then his nature led him to suck blood without giving anything in return. Well, more than blood, he sucked, and sucks, the club's euros.”

After nine torrid – albeit trophy-laden – years with Los Blancos, Bale finished his contract and moved to LAFC in a one-year deal, with a clause that allows for a possible 18-month extension. The star presented to fans ahead of the club's 3-2 derby win over LA Galaxy at the Banc of California stadium.
Last year, Bale refuted the claim he could not be bothered to learn Spanish, saying to The Times. “I speak well enough to get by and I understand everything that's going on,' he said. “The press were upset because I didn't speak to them. And I didn't speak to them in Spanish. So they obviously create this big drama, this big soap opera that I can't do this and I can't do that.”
