Gakpo to Man Utd could well ‘get done in January’ with PSV willing to cash in
Manchester United could be set to swoop in for Cody Gakpo in January – after the Dutchman shinned at the World Cup.
Gakpo was one of the stand-out stars from the World Cup, having already impressed Premier League clubs last season. And as the Dutchman continued to find the net in Qatar, reports linked the youngster to Liverpool.
However, talkSPORT are now reporting that United are going all out for Gakpo – and Erik ten Hag is now leading the race for the in-demand star. PSV have also accepted that Gakpo will leave the club in the near future.

United lost the services of Cristiano Ronaldo over the World Cup – after the two parties agreed to mutually terminate his contract after the 37-year-old's tell-all interview with Piers Morgan.
Ten Hag said, on signing a new attacker: "Yes but only when we find the right player. We do everything in our power. We are doing research on every opportunity and we do everything we can if that opportunity is there to sign them."
While PSV boss, and United legend, Ruud van Nistelrooy said: "If I have the choice, I prefer [Gakpo to leave in] the summer, but it can also be now. You just know there comes a time when you can’t say no."

Gakpo had been close to a move to England over the summer – with Southampton and Leeds United interested.
Leeds had been within hours of a move too, and Leeds higher-ups jetted to the Netherlands to finalise negations and bring Gakpo back on a private jet. Gakpo had decided to move too, but a phone call from Louis van Gaal changed everything.
Van Gaal told Gakpo he would have a better chance of making the World Cup squad if he stayed at PSV rather than moving to Elland Road.
