Fred explains what Bruno Fernandes did immediately after Man Utd arrival
Fred has explained what Bruno Fernandes' first action as a Manchester United player was.
It comes after the Portugal international was brought in last January for a fee of up to £65m from Sporting Lisbon.
And after a lengthy wrangle with the Jose Alvalade Stadium outfit, no-one could have expected the immediate impact Fernandes would have.
The 26-year-old has scored more goals than anyone else in the Premier League since his arrival at Old Trafford.
In those 40 league appearances, that includes 40 goal involvements – 23 goals and 17 assists – more than any other United player ever in Premier League history.
His goals have been worth 15 points to United, almost single-handedly roping them up into the Champions League last season and, currently, this term too.
Considering he plays in midfield, that is astonishing for a player that spent years languishing in Italy and Portugal before his move to United.
But club team-mate Fred has gone someway to explain how Fernandes has had such an impact at Old Trafford so early.
He said: “I think it surprised. His impact was very fast, you know.
"He arrived here and already took over the midfield, called for the lead and took it.
"I think he’s a great player, he came here to help us. I’m very happy with this.

"He’s a very good guy, we see that he works a lot on a daily basis. A guy who’s always trying to win, you know?
"He doesn’t like to lose. So his mentality is very cool, very good.”
Meanwhile, United are already planning on signing Fernandes to a new contract to keep any lurking hands off.
The Portuguese star is currently on £100,000-a-week but the club are keen on bumping his salary up to match his importance to the side.
With players such as Paul Pogba and David de Gea on nearly three times that amount, though Fernandes will still be some way off that total.
