Frankfurt 'reach agreement to sign Götze from PSV'
Eintracht Frankfurt ‘have reached an agreement to sign Mario Götze from PSV Eindhoven’ – as the 2014 World Cup hero prepares to head back to Germany despite interest from Benfica

Mario Götze is closing in on a Bundesliga return after reaching an agreement to sign for Eintracht Frankfurt, according to SPORT1.
The 30-year-old is currently at PSV Eindhoven but is allowed to leave the club this summer for the comparatively small sum of €4m (£3.4m) thanks to an exit clause in his contract.
Despite interest from Portugal, the 2014 World Cup hero has agreed terms with the recent Europa League winners ahead of the 2022/23 season.

The former Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich player is Frankfurt’s number one target in the summer window as a likely replacement for midfield ace Daichi Kamada – who is sought after by a number of Premier League clubs.
The Frankfurt sporting director Markus Krösche has met with the playmaker in the last few days and presented him with a clear plan about his move, according to reports.
It’s understood that Oliver Glasner’s system, which involves attacking playmakers that support both the attack and defence, should play a major role in attracting the 30-year-old into a move.
The 30-year-old contributed four goals and four assists in the Eredivisie last season
Playing 29 out of a possible 34 matches in the Eredivisie last season, Götze had a large role in PSV’s third place league finish as well as their KNVB CUP final victory over Ajax.
His move to the Netherlands was so much of a success that the manager who signed him for PSV, Roger Schmidt, wants to bring him to Portugal.
Schmidt took charge of Benfica in May and already made it clear that he wants Götze to be one of his first signings – but that now looks unlikely.
The former German international sealed a move to PSV in 2020 and has recorded 18 goals from 77 appearances in his two seasons at the The Philips Stadion.
Götze spent 11 seasons in the Bundesliga prior to his move to the Netherlands in 2020
