Frank Lampard has been spotted walking his dog as the axed Chelsea boss relaxes following his sacking from the west London club.

The Stamford Bridge icon was given his marching orders after a string of poor results that left Roman Abramovich with no choice but to part ways with the club’s record goalscorer.

Lampard, 42, is the twelfth different manager to serve under the club’s Russian billionaire owner, with some fans and pundits bemoaning the former midfielder’s dismissal.

The Blues have since turned to former PSG coach Thomas Tuchel to get performances out of their star-studded squad, and the German oversaw a flat 0-0 draw with Wolves in his first game in charge.

It is the first time Lampard has been seen publicly since his sacking, having made a statement through the League Managers Association in the immediate aftermath of his dismissal.

‘It has been a privilege and an honour to manage Chelsea, a club that has been a big part of my life for so long,’ he said.

Lampard had overseen a poor run of results of five defeats in eight games before his sacking

Those results left Chelsea’s ruthless owner Roman Abramovich with no option but to sack him

‘Firstly, I would like to thank the fans for the incredible support that I have received over the last 18 months. I hope they know what that means to me.

‘When I took on this role I understood the challenges that lay ahead in a difficult time for the football club.

‘I am proud of the achievements that we made, and I am proud of the academy players that have made their step into the first team and performed so well. They are the future of the club.

‘I am disappointed not to have had the time this season to take the club forward and bring it to the next level.

The 42-year-old had released a statement on Instagram following his sacking earlier this week

‘I want to thank Mr Abramovich, the board, players, my coaching team and everyone at the club for their hard work and dedication, especially in these unprecedented and challenging times.

‘I wish the team and the club every success for the future.’

Abramovich is typically unafraid to wield the axe at Stamford Bridge, having dismissed Antonio Conte and Maurizio Sarri in recent years despite the pair enjoying success at the helm.

Chelsea supporters are still behind the former icon despite the abrupt end to his stint

The 54-year-old made the uncharacteristic move in explaining his decision to sack the club legend this week, labelling it a ‘very difficult decision’.

Speculation that there had been dressing room unrest prior to Lampard’s dismissal have since been rebuked, with striker Tammy Abraham leaping to the defence of team-mate Antonio Rudiger amid rumours that the German was unhappy with the former boss.

Tuchel will be hoping to register his first win with his new club on Sunday when the Blues host a resurgent Burnley side at Stamford Bridge.
