Mauricio Pochettino was told in no uncertain terms that he is not one of the candidates to take over Tottenham's managerial role in the summer – three years after he left the club.
The Argentine, who left PSG last year having picked up three trophies, had been linked with the vacant role after the exit of Antonio Conte following a dismal run of form.
Fan favourite Pochettino was thought to be a potential successor, having presided over two title challenges and led the club to the Champions League final in his time at Spurs, alongside the likes of former Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann.

However, Daily Star Sport understands Pochettino was told 'thanks, but no thanks' regarding his interest in the role as he eyes a return to Premier League football.
The 51-year-old hoped he did enough in his first spell to get a second chance in north London – but chairman Daniel Levy has other ideas.
Burnley’s Vincent Kompany and Brentford’s Thomas Frank remain among the preferred candidates, with Feyenoord coach Arne Slot a strong contender.

Cristian Stellini is set to stay in the role of acting head coach at Spurs until the end of the season, with fans hoping to secure Champions League qualification.
He said this week: "When you take decisions for the best you are not in crisis.
"If you have some matters, we have to stay compact and we have to stick together to move on and play the matches."
Spurs sit two points above fifth placed Newcastle having played 28 fixtures – which is two game more than Eddie Howe's side have managed.
Tottenham have finished inside the top four in five of the last seven seasons, including a second place finish in 2016/17.
Despite that top-four success, they haven't won a trophy since the League Cup in 2008, with Harry Kane linked with a summer move to Manchester United.
