Four things Thomas Tuchel changed for Chelsea in first match in charge
Thomas Tuchel took charge of his first game as the new Chelsea boss when his side hosted Wolves at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday evening.
The game came just 24 hours after the former Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain manager was appointed as Frank Lampard's successor and the Blues drew 0-0 with Nuno Espirito Santo's side.
Chelsea dominated possession, having 78% of the ball but they failed to find the back of the net, struggling to create much in the way of clear-cut chances.
Daily Star Sport takes a look at four changes Thomas Tuchel made in his first game in charge of the Blues.
Faith in experience
Having not had much time to work with the squad before the game, Tuchel decided to back experience over youth and made four changes to the side which started Lampard's last game in charge.
Tuchel brought Olivier Giroud, Cesar Azpilicueta, Jorginho and Hakim Ziyech into the starting XI, with young stars Tammy Abraham, Reece James, Mason Mount and Christian Pulisic dropping to the bench.
Explaining his decision ahead of the match, Tuchel told BT Sport: "Today with the choices it was totally unfair. How can I do the choices with one training, where everybody was really focussed and open to all things we train.
"This may be the most unfair line up we ever do because there is no reason to give to players not in the line up. In doubt we chose a bit more experience today.
"The place where we are is not the place we should be so the pressure is high. We went for a bit of experience."
Mount on the bench
Mount was perhaps the most surprising omission from Tuchel's starting line-up, having started Chelsea's last 13 Premier League games and featuring more than any other player during Lampard's reign.
However, Tuchel opted for Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho in the middle of the park and Hakim Ziyech and Kai Havertz in the more creative positions, leaving Mount on the bench.
The England international did come on as a second-half substitute and he offered Chelsea something different in his late cameo appearance, attempting to make runs in behind the Wolves defence.
Rudiger given a start
Antonio Rudiger started as part of a back three and the Germany international could be a key member of Tuchel's team, having struggled for game-time under Lampard who had favoured a pairing of Thiago Silva and Kurt Zouma.
The 27-year-old made just four Premier League starts under Lampard this season and, although he featured in three of Lampard's last four league games, Rudiger was linked with an exit over the summer.
However, Tuchel is said to be a big fan of the defender, having wanted to sign him when he was at PSG, and Rudiger helped the Blues keep a clean sheet against Wolves.
Hudson-Odoi as a wing-back
One of the more interesting tactical tweaks Tuchel made was playing Callum Hudson-Odoi as a fluid right wing-back.
The 20-year-old is known for his direct runs and express pace and that was on display against Wolves, with Hudson-Odoi making regular forays down the right and firing in crosses.
He had made just four league starts under Lampard but showed some promise in the new role and looked one of the most likely players to make something happen, being named man-of-the-match.
