Four stars Everton should get in January to save season after 10-point deduction
Everton deducted 10 points for breach of Premier League financial rules
Everton have been handed a 10-point deduction that firmly places them in the Premier League relegation zone despite a positive start to the season. The Toffees insist that they are “shocked” by the punishment but unless their appeal is successful, they face an uphill battle to avoid the drop. Two points adrift from safety, Everton and Sean Dyche could look to several bargain options in the January transfer market and Express Sport has taken a look at the players who may come into Goodison Park.
Wilfried Gnonto
Everton have had a long-standing interest in Leeds starlet Wilfried Gnonto and could intensify their efforts in January. With a strong foundation at the back and two focal points up front with Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto, creativity may be where Dyche wants to improve in January.
Summer additions Arnaut Danjuma and Jack Harrison have failed to have the desired effect so far, with Abdoulaye Doucoure often tasked with providing support to the striker. Gnonto has often found himself out of the Leeds starting lineup this year with the quartet of Joel Piroe, Crysensio Summerville, Georginio Rutter and Dan James recently preferred and they may be willing to part ways with the Italian.

Kalvin Phillips
If Everton are strapped for cash and need to offload star players to replenish the squad for a relegation battle, Amadou Onana could be one player to leave after previous interest from the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United.
A new midfielder may be required and Manchester City’s forgotten man Kalvin Phillips could fit the bill at a reduced price following his previous £42million move to the Etihad, although his game does differ from the Belgian. Pep Guardiola is seemingly prepared to let the England international leave and Everton could offer him the opportunity to play regularly again after a dismal two seasons at City.

Samuel Iling-Junior
Juventus starlet Samuel Iling-Junior could similarly provide the necessary creativity to get Everton over the line, having made just a handful of appearances since the England Under-21 star moved to Italy.
Teamtalk claim that Everton are one of several Premier League teams interested in the forward’s services, as Juventus could be willing to cash in on the 20-year-old to fund a midfielder following the provisional suspension of Paul Pogba and confirmed ban for Nicolo Fagioli.
Eric Dier
Jarrad Branthwaite’s stellar season will not have gone unnoticed by clubs at the top end of the Premier League who may now believe that it is their time to pounce and prise him away from Goodison. If Everton feel the need to sell the defender in January then Dyche may look at an experienced option to steer the club to safety in the short term.
Eric Dier has been relegated to a squad option at Tottenham under Ange Postecoglou and if he wants to get back into the England team in time for Euro 2024, a first-team place at somewhere like Everton could mutually benefit both parties if Braithwaite moves on.
