Four players sent off in Wolves’ pre-season game as chaos descends into 9-a-side
Wolves’ pre-season friendly was anything but that as four players were sent-off in a fiery clash.
The Premier League club faced Spanish outfit Levante behind closed doors in Benidorm when the match descended into chaos. Tackles flew in as the game got underway and things took a turn just after the half-hour mark when another wild challenge resulted in a full brawl involving the entirety of both teams.
Levante were 1-0 up thanks to a Roger Marti Salvador finish when things erupted. Wolves’ Yerson Mosquera was clipped with a late challenge by the touchline, sending him tumbling to the floor.

Mosquera then got up and squared up to the opposing player, while other Levante players quickly arrived on the scene and began pushing the Colombian centre-back. His team-mates tried to pull him away while Levante stars furiously rallied together.
The result was a sending off for both Mosquera and Levante’s Enis Bardhi. Yet there was more chaos to come just moments later.
Midfielder Daniel Podence this time reacted to one of the Spanish side’s defenders, thereby kicking-off another shoving match. Players from both sides again sprinted towards the action to diffuse the latest bust-up, which resulted in two more red cards.
The teams were momentarily involved in a stunning nine-versus-nine match as referee Jorge Tarraga Lajara blew his whistle for half-time. There were fears of the training match being abandoned but Lajara instead made the curious decision to allow both teams to return for the second-half with 11 players.
Levante doubled their lead after Giorgi Kochorashvili finished into the bottom corner. A Toti Gomes goal wasn’t enough for Wolves as they suffered a 2-1 defeat, with the final whistle bizarrely being blown in the 87th minute.
