Foster left feeling sorry for Wrexham staff after dressing room antics
Ben Foster has opened up on the state of the Wrexham dressing rooms after the club secured promotion back to the Football League. Victory over Boreham Wood last Saturday completed the job for the Welsh side and the post-match celebrations were certainly messy.
Wrexham have spent 15 years in non-league football after being relegated from League Two in 2008. They came close to folding in 2011 but are now back in the big time less than two years after being bought by Hollywood duo Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.
And they certainly did not hold back in their celebrations once their promotion was confirmed. Foster was on post-match media duty after a pitch invasion was cleared at the Racecourse Ground.
The former England goalkeeper, who came out of retirement on a short-term deal in March, was one of the last players to make it back to the dressing room. He has opened up on the scenes he witnessed and issued an apology to whoever was in charge of cleaning up.

Speaking on his podcast Fozcast, Foster said: “So yeah I did all the media, got back to the changing rooms and there were only a couple of lads left then by that point. They’d already gone upstairs to the room where we were having the after-party basically
“So we’ve gone into the changing room – the changing rooms were a shambles by the way. An absolute state.
“They stunk so bad because players had also had food, there was crap everywhere. They put a load of food in there but really I don’t think many people ate it.

“A few of the lads would have had something but it was just trays of chicken and rice and stuff really. It was dead simple, dead plain.
“A few people had some bits and bobs but there were just puddles of beer and mud. It was horrible. Wet towels on the floor, I feel sorry for whoever had to clean the changing rooms actually because they were a disgrace, genuinely they were, and it stunk honestly.
“Beer on the wall stunk, it was horrible. So I got in there, quickly got showered and went over to Rob and Ryan’s box.”
