Former Prem star scores stunning volley that would make Paolo Di Canio blush

Former Premier League winger Craig Noone has scored a stunning volley in Australia which would make even Paolo Di Canio blush.

Noone, who had a five-year spell with now Championship side Cardiff City, was in space on the left side of the box as A-League outfit Macarthur FC were looking for a late goal.

A pass over the top found the 34-year-old and he connected with it as sweetly as he will ever have hit a football.

It flew into the far corner and tied the game against the Central Coast Mariners at 3-3 with a little over a minute left of the 90.

The goal, which resembles Di Canio's famous strike for West Ham, has been tipped as a potential award winner.

"Craig Noone just casually winning the Puskas award for 2022," one fan wrote.

Another viewer declared: "No one could score that again."

"What a remarkable strike from one of the best in the league," added a third.

The commentators were equally amazed by Noone's effort.

"Oh that’s a beauty, what a stunning goal that is by Craig Noone. My goodness. That is a beauty with the outside of the left boot," the first began.

The second continued: "Well that will be shown on highlight reels for years to come, what a strike from Craig Noone."

Noone, who was born just north of Liverpool, got his break in the professional game at Plymouth before going on to impress with Brighton.

His sole season in the English top flight came in the 2013/14 campaign, during which he scored once and assisted twice in 17 league appearances.

After leaving Cardiff he joined Bolton and then moved Down Under in 2019, initially joining Melbourne City who he left last year.
